FAQ

A handle is a public AI representative trained on you — your knowledge, your tone, your boundaries. Visitors get answers anytime, you get to focus on the questions that actually need a human reply. It also gives you a clean URL — free.ai/@yourhandle — that ranks on Google and works as a portable AI business card.

50,000 tokens per month for upkeep — about $0.66 in Free.ai pricing terms. If you're already on any paid plan (Basic, Pro, Business, etc.), upkeep is free. There is no separate handle subscription tier; the existing token economy covers it.

Free chat is between the visitor and your AI — instant, automated, no payment, no human in the loop. Paid Q&A routes a written question directly to you (visitor pays up front, you reply within 7 days, full refund if you don't). Paid bookings let visitors reserve a real meeting on your calendar — you set the price + duration, AI screens the request for fit, on payment we auto-generate a Google Meet link and email both parties the calendar invite. Reply or show up: you keep 85% of either flow.

Visitors pay via secure checkout (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay). Funds settle in our payments processor first, then payout to your connected bank account on the standard schedule. You add the bank account once during onboarding — it's a quick verification step, no card or routing form filled out by hand.

After 7 days with no reply, the visitor automatically receives a full refund. You get nothing for that question. We send you reminder emails at 24 hours and 6 days before refund — and the inbox dashboard shows a countdown next to every unanswered question. Repeated no-replies don't get you banned, but they will hurt your handle's rating, which visitors see before paying.

You see aggregated stats — how many conversations, what topics come up, average rating. You don't see individual visitor identities by default. Visitors see a small notice on your handle page declaring your tracking purpose (research, commercial, personal, or none) — you choose which. They can opt out before chatting; if they do, the conversation is never logged on your end.

Yes. Toggle the publish flag off and your /@handle/ page returns a 'not yet published' notice instead of a chat surface. Knowledge sources you've uploaded stay attached to the handle, ready to go live again the moment you flip the toggle. There's also a per-handle 'private mode' that's only visible to you — useful for using your AI as a personal assistant trained on private data.

Yes. One account can own multiple handles — useful for separate brands (your personal handle plus a company handle, say). Each handle has its own 50K-token monthly upkeep, its own knowledge base, and its own paid Q&A settings. Subscribers' upkeep is free regardless of how many handles they hold, up to a fair-use cap of 10 per account.

Every published handle gets a server-rendered profile page with your bio, knowledge areas, suggested prompts, and a chat surface, all crawlable. Add your handle URL to your other profiles (LinkedIn, X, GitHub, personal site) and it'll get indexed within days. Pick a clean slug — short, descriptive, lowercase — and write a good tagline. Active handles with frequent conversations rank highest.

Handles are first-come-first-served. If the slug you want is taken, try a variation (your name plus a niche, your initials plus a number, your project name). For verified trademark or impersonation cases, contact us — we'll review and reassign if there's a clear claim, same as any handle service.

Yes, anytime. Delete the handle from your account and the slug returns to the available pool after a 30-day cool-down (so impersonators can't immediately claim it). Knowledge files, conversations, and paid Q&A history are all wiped on delete — though you can export them first from the edit page if you want a record.

Yes. Paid Q&A is fully optional. You can run a handle as a free brand surface — answer questions via your AI, route serious leads to a contact link or Calendly, and never accept a paid question. The handle still gets you the public profile, the Google ranking, and the AI persona; you just don't enable the direct-to-you payment flow. Many handles run this way.
