Free.ai Chrome Extension

The Chrome extension is currently under development. Enter your email on this page to be notified as soon as it launches on the Chrome Web Store. In the meantime, you can use our bookmarklet for quick AI access from any page.

The extension will include a right-click AI context menu for selected text, a sidebar chat panel that works on any webpage, quick-access popup tools for TTS, translation, image generation, and code assistance, plus access to all 346+ AI models.

Yes. The extension itself will be completely free to install and use. It will use the same token system as free.ai -- you get daily free tokens, and can buy more or upgrade to a paid plan for unlimited usage.

Select any text on a webpage, right-click, and you will see AI actions in the context menu such as summarize, translate, explain, rewrite, or ask a question. The result appears directly in the extension sidebar without leaving the page.

Yes. The sidebar chat will be able to read the content of the current page so you can ask questions about what you are reading, request summaries, or get explanations without manually copying and pasting text.

Yes. Chrome extensions are compatible with all Chromium-based browsers including Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi. You will be able to install it from the Chrome Web Store in any of these browsers.

A Firefox add-on is planned for after the Chrome extension launch. The core functionality will be the same. Sign up for notifications and we will announce the Firefox version when it is ready.

No. The extension only sends data to Free.ai when you actively trigger an AI action. It does not track your browsing history, collect analytics, or run background processes. Your privacy is fully respected.

You will be able to use basic features without an account using the anonymous daily token limit. Signing in with a Free.ai account will give you higher limits, conversation history sync, and access to premium models.

The extension popup will offer quick access to the most popular tools including chat, text-to-speech, translation, and image generation. For the full tool catalog, the extension will link you to free.ai where all 200+ tools are available.

The bookmarklet is a lightweight tool that opens Free.ai in a new tab with your selected text. The Chrome extension offers a much richer experience with an in-page sidebar, right-click context menu, quick popup tools, and the ability to interact with AI without leaving the current page.

The extension will let you choose from self-hosted free models and 346+ premium models via OpenRouter. You can set a default model in the extension settings and switch models on the fly from the sidebar or popup.
