Premium FLUX Dev / Seedream 4 nail brushstroke texture, paper texture, and gallery-light feel. Free SDXL gets the medium right but brushstrokes can look smoothed. For print-quality painting reproduction, use premium and run the output through /image/upscaler/ for 2-4x upscale to 4096-8192 px.

4:3 for traditional landscape painting (matches most frames). 3:4 for portrait. 2:3 for tall portrait paintings (renaissance / baroque conventions). 16:9 for wide panoramic. Pick the aspect matching your intended frame; generating at the wrong aspect then cropping loses composition the AI optimized for.

They can — Renaissance and Baroque traditions are heavily religious. The AI generates per your prompt. For secular subjects in religious-art style, just ask: "baroque-style portrait of a businesswoman, dramatic chiaroscuro lighting" — it adapts.

Native FLUX 1.1 Ultra: 2048 px on the long edge (300 DPI at 6.83 in / 17 cm wide). Run through 2x upscale: 4096 px (300 DPI at 13.65 in / 34.6 cm wide). 4x upscale: 8192 px (300 DPI at 27.3 in / 69 cm wide — wall-art size). Free SDXL outputs 1024 px native; needs more upscale for wall sizes.

Generic style references (impressionist, baroque, art deco) are safe and work well. Specific living-artist names raise IP issues — selling "in the style of Banksy" is risky. Avoid named-artist prompts for anything you intend to sell commercially. The medium presets give you period style without the legal mess.

Premium models (FLUX Dev, Seedream, FLUX Ultra) produce convincingly hand-painted output for most subjects. Free SDXL sometimes leaks digital-art aesthetic into pure-painting prompts. Add cues like "thick impasto brushstrokes", "visible canvas weave", "slight pigment accumulation in shadows" for stronger painterly results.
