Five output modes: transparent / solid white / solid black / blurred original (portrait-mode look) / custom color. Three edge-quality settings (Auto / High / Fast). Output formats PNG, WebP, JPG.

Free in the daily token pool — anonymous users get 2,500 tokens/day, signed-in get 10,000. Each cutout is ~1,000 tokens. remove.bg charges $0.20-0.99 per HD image after the first free one. Photoroom is $13/mo. Canva Pro $15/mo. Both U-2-Net and BiRefNet are open-source models we self-host — $0 to you.

RMBG (default) is faster and good for clean silhouettes, products, hard edges. BiRefNet wins on hairlines, fur, plant tendrils, fine lace — anywhere you need sub-pixel edge tracking. Both are free; both produce identical PNG output formats. For a one-off product shot start with RMBG. For a portrait or pet photo with messy hair, switch to BiRefNet.

Pick BiRefNet from the Model dropdown for the cleanest hair / fur edges. Set Edge Quality to High to fine-tune further. For glass, smoke, and other translucent subjects, BiRefNet handles them better than RMBG — but no segmentation model is perfect. Compare with /image/object_remover/ if you need pixel-level control.

Transparent (PNG) for editing, compositing onto other backgrounds, designing in Photoshop / Figma / Canva. White is the Amazon main-image spec (RGB 255/255/255), Shopify default, eBay listings. Black is club / event posters and luxury-brand vibes. Blurred mimics iPhone Portrait Mode for selfies that did not get the depth-aware blur from your camera.

Yes — go to /batch/, set the operation to background-remove, drop a folder of photos, get a ZIP back. Useful for an Etsy shop with 50+ products needing white-background main images, or a wedding photographer prepping silhouette cutouts.

Upload up to 10MB per image (JPG / PNG / WebP). Output preserves the input resolution — no downsampling. Output format is your choice: PNG (preserves transparency, larger file), WebP (smaller, transparency supported), JPG (smallest, no transparency, white-bg fallback).

Same baseline quality (both use modern transformer-based segmentation; BRIA 2.0 is competitive with remove.bg internal models on 2024 benchmarks). remove.bg has slightly better hair handling on dark backgrounds; BRIA wins on translucent subjects. The cost difference (free vs $0.20-0.99/image) is the practical tiebreaker for most users.
