Tokens are the universal currency on Free.ai. Every tool costs tokens — chat messages, image generations, voice synthesis, etc. One token roughly equals 4 characters of text. Self-hosted models are cheapest, external models (GPT-4, Claude) cost more tokens per use.

No! Purchased tokens and token packs never expire. Daily free tokens reset every 24 hours.

Every tool deducts tokens. New accounts get 30,000 tokens/day that reset every 24 hours. To keep the free tier fair vs. paid customers (a $5 wallet = 200K tokens), the heaviest creative tools have a per-day cap on free accounts: 1 video clip, 2 music tracks, 5 image generations, 5 image edits. Chat, text, voice, transcription, OCR — all uncapped within the daily pool. Hit the cap? Top up: $5 = 200,000 tokens with no per-tool caps, or $5/mo Basic = 250K/mo + the daily pool stays active.
