Zoom Transcription

Model:
Upload your Zoom cloud recording — .mp4, .m4a, or the full .zip bundle. We attempt to parse embedded participant names from Zoom metadata so speakers show up with their real names. Diarization + AI summary + action items, same outputs as /transcribe/meeting/.

Drag and drop your Zoom recording or .zip bundle

Purpose-built for Zoom cloud recordings

Real speaker names, not 'Speaker 1'

Zoom embeds participant names in the recording metadata. We parse them, so your transcript shows 'Alice:' / 'Bob:' instead of 'Speaker 1 / 2'.

Upload the full .zip bundle

Zoom cloud export ships as a .zip with participant streams + gallery mp4. Drop the whole bundle — we pick the mixed-audio file automatically.

Your data stays with you

Unlike multi-tenant competitors, your Zoom recording is processed and deleted. Transcript sits in your /account/ history for download + delete.

How Zoom transcription works

  1. Download your Zoom cloud recording (.mp4, .m4a, or .zip bundle).
  2. Drop the file here. We parse Zoom metadata for participant names.
  3. Click Transcribe. We diarize speakers + generate the summary + action items block.
  4. Download meeting TXT/DOCX/SRT/JSON with real names and paste into your team update.

Zoom Transcription — FAQ

Cloud recordings come as .mp4 (video + audio) or .m4a (audio-only). Both work. Zoom also exports .zip packages containing multiple participant streams — upload the .zip and we will unpack and pick the mixed-audio mp4 automatically.

Yes — Zoom embeds participant names in ZR4 metadata chunks inside the mp4 container. We parse them on upload. When available, speaker labels become the real names ("Alice", "Bob") instead of generic "Speaker 1 / 2". Falls back to generic labels when metadata is missing.

Zoom built-in transcription costs extra on Business+ plans ($21.99/user/mo). Ours is pay-per-use on Whisper-large-v3 (~$0.003/min). Plus we produce the same summary + action items + multi-format export that Zoom charges extra for.

Otter Zoom integration caps at 300 minutes free/month. We have no monthly cap — pay per minute transcribed. For occasional Zoom recordings, we are essentially free (5K tokens/day = ~10 minutes daily); for heavy users, still 5-10x cheaper than Otter Pro.

Fireflies lives in your calendar and joins meetings as a bot — great if you want real-time join. We are batch-only (upload after) but 70% cheaper per minute and your data never leaves Free.ai infrastructure.

Yes. Zoom cloud exports often ship a .zip with individual participant recordings plus a gallery-view mp4. We unzip server-side, prefer the mixed-audio MP4, and fall back to the highest-quality individual stream.

The slider goes up to 10 speakers. For very large calls (webinars, panels of 15+), diarization accuracy drops — consider using the summary + action items features without individual speaker attribution.

Not from the .mp4/.m4a recording alone — chat is a separate Zoom export (.txt). Upload the chat.txt to /write/summarize/ or paste it into /chat/ for analysis.

Uploaded files are deleted after transcription. Transcripts live in your /account/ for 7 days (paid) / 24 hours (free). For confidential meetings, download + delete the history row. We are not a multi-tenant SaaS — your audio stays on our infrastructure.

Yes — the audio track inside a Teams or Meet .mp4 transcribes identically. Speaker-name metadata will not auto-populate (those platforms do not embed it the way Zoom does), so labels will be generic ("Speaker 1 / 2") and you can rename them in the result view.

Same as /transcribe/meeting/: TXT with speaker labels, SRT, VTT, JSON, and DOCX. Plus the AI-generated summary + action items + decisions block at the top for pasting into your team update.

For moderated webinars (1-3 speakers), yes. For audience Q&A sections with many quick back-and-forth questions, diarization is less reliable — we surface a warning when the speaker-turn cadence drops below 5s.
