Yes — .ai requires a 2-year minimum at the registry, so a .ai domain is $222.56 upfront for two years. We pull this directly from the registrar's API so the search result always shows the real total. Most other TLDs allow 1-year registrations.

We auto-renew using your Free.ai token balance. We email you 60 days, 30 days, and 7 days before expiry so you can top up. You can turn off auto-renew anytime from your dashboard — we'll let it expire naturally if you want.

Yes — we set our nameservers (ns1/2/3.vps.org) at registration time, so as soon as the domain is live, you can manage DNS records from your account. Pair the domain with a Free.ai deployment and we'll wire nginx + SSL automatically.

Yes — when you buy a domain, we automatically attach it to your most recent live deployment. nginx vhost is rewritten and Let's Encrypt issues a fresh cert covering both .app.free.ai and your custom domain.

Yes — the domain is registered under your name with WHOIS privacy enabled. You can transfer it to another registrar (Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.) anytime by requesting an EPP code. We don't lock you in.

If a domain is flagged as premium and the wholesale price is above our auto-checkout limit (~$2,000), email hello@free.ai and we'll quote you. The +30% markup applies but we'll handle premium-name auctions and aftermarket purchases manually.

Not for the registration itself — your Free.ai token balance pays. If you don't have enough tokens, we'll redirect you to top up first, then automatically finish the registration when you come back.

You can search anonymously to check availability and pricing. Buying requires a free account because the domain has to be registered to someone — that's how WHOIS works. Sign-up is one click.

There's a ~30 day registry grace period where we may still be able to recover it (at a higher restore fee). After that it goes back to the public pool. We send 60d / 30d / 7d / expired emails so you'll never be surprised.
